The Interpretive Guides Association (IGA) advocates for the professional interests of interpreters, guides, and outdoor educators across Canada. Working collaboratively with other national certifying bodies and key partners, we support clear, consistent engagement with decision makers to strengthen professional standards, safety, and the quality of visitor experiences. Our advocacy work helps to ensure interpretation remains a valued part of outdoor tourism, education and conservation.
Parks Canada - Advocacy Work
There are four national certifying bodies in Canada’s outdoor guiding industry:

Together, we have come forward with a unified request to Parks Canada for a dedicated, two-way engagement process with the outdoor guiding industry.
The goal of this collaboration, and of the accompanying letter, is to establish a clear, consistent, and reliable channel for dialogue between Parks Canada and national certifying bodies. This would support timely collaboration on shared priorities such as permitting, safety, professional standards, and visitor experience.
