What we do

The Interpretive Guides Association is a not-for-profit professional body representing interpretive guides, outdoor leaders, and educators who connect people to Canada's nature and history.

We believe that meaningful, enjoyable, and memorable experiences can be fostered through interpretation and safe guiding practices. Interpretation is an incredible communication tool that helps weave information about our natural landscapes, wildlife, and history into engaging stories, enjoyable experiences, and meaningful connections for our clients.

Like any professionals, interpreters, guides and educators need professional representation, certification, and ongoing opportunities for learning and discovery. The Interpretive Guides Association provides services that support guides and ensure visitors that go out with them have enjoyable, safe, and memorable experiences.
